What Medical Mondays Is
Medical Mondays is Caribbean Currents’ clinician-led, clinically inclusive publishing channel. Every Monday we publish a clinical or practice perspective that speaks to the realities of care across the Caribbean and among its diaspora. Physicians lead the conversation, and we actively welcome voices from across the clinical professions — nurses, allied health, public health, and community health practitioners.
What We Publish

Every submission connects a clinical or practice reality to the lived health experience of the Caribbean or its diaspora — and leaves the reader able to see or do something differently.
Submission Lanes
Tell us which lane your piece fits:
• Clinical narrative / from practice — lived experience opening into systems and culture.
Our signature lane.
• Systems & policy commentary — practice realities, access gaps, workforce, and reform.
• Case-based practice notes — accessible, de-identified reflections on what you are seeing in clinic.
• Evidence to regional practice — translating research or guidelines for Caribbean resource realities.
• Diaspora dispatch — clinicians abroad in dialogue with home-region care.
• Early-career & trainee voice — residents, registrars, and students.
What Makes a Strong Piece
• Caribbean or diaspora relevance, made explicit in the piece rather than implied.
• Clinically sound — accurate, with evidence-based claims cited rather than asserted.
• A clear central insight, not description or a literature recap alone.
• Original and unpublished, or a clearly disclosed cross-post.
• Ethically clean — patients de-identified, with conflicts of interest and any commercial interest disclosed.
• Accessible — readable by clinicians and the engaged non-clinician alike.
What We Won’t Run
– Generic medical content with no regional or practice stakes.
– Promotional or sponsored material presented as editorial.
– Unsourced clinical claims, or advice that could mislead.
– Anything that identifies patients or breaches confidentiality.
Formats & Length

How to Submit
- Send a 2–3 sentence pitch: your core point, why it matters now, and which lane it fits.
- Attach your draft or proposed angle, plus a one-line bio with your role and territory.
- Email hello@caribbeancurrents.org with the subject line “Medical Mondays — [Lane].”
We review on a rolling basis, and clinical pieces are checked for accuracy by a member of our editorial board. You’ll hear back within 5 business days with one of four outcomes: accepted, accepted with edits, redirected to Regional Rounds, or declined with a brief note.
About Regional Rounds
Regional Rounds is the live companion to Medical Mondays — a recurring, clinician-led discussion by podcast, livestream, or webinar that convenes practitioners around the month’s theme and opens the conversation to non-clinical audiences. Strong submissions and timely topics may be invited into a live session.
